These seventy-plus year-old vines have excelled in this vintage and deliver a stunningly pure and red fruity bouquet of pomegranate, cherries, sweet cranberry, vinesmoke, fresh thyme, a complex base of soil tones and a topnote of orange peel. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and tangy, with lovely transparency for the vintage, a fine core, ripe tannins and a long, tangy and nascently complex finish. This is a properly structured Morgon out of the blocks and will demand some bottle age before it starts to drink with true generosity, but its future is going to be superb.
