2022 Domaine Dampt Frères Chablis Grand Cru Blanchot

The 2022 Domaine Dampt Frères Blanchot is one of the best buys for Grand Cru Chablis right now, and we have excellent pricing on the only bottles currently available in the US! It is a finely cut, site-driven Chablis from a family estate, which has become a dependable source for serious value in the appellation. It is especially appealing because this bottling comes from the domaine's oldest vines, which are more than 50 years old. Blanchot is one of the more distinctive grand crus of Chablis, sitting on the far eastern side of the hill with east- and southeast-facing exposure, a slower-ripening position that tends to favor elegance and purity over sheer power, and Dampt keeps the focus squarely on that terroir with 100% stainless-steel élevage. 2022 is a great Chablis vintage that delivered both quality and quantity, with ripe fruit and generosity balanced by freshness. This is a fine example of Blanchot’s more refined side and is one of the best efforts ever from the Domaine. At current pricing, it stands out as one of the best buys in 2022 Grand Cru Chablis, especially for buyers who want real grand cru pedigree without paying top-tier prices!

John Gilman 94+ The Blanchot from Domaine Dampt Frères is also made from old vines, as this parcel is more than fifty years of age now. It is given a small percentage of barrel-aging, with the remainder of the cuvée raised in stainless steel tank. The 2022 Blanchot again comes in at thirteen percent octane and offers up a superb nose of apple, pear, paraffin, a hint of raw almond, oyster shell, lovely chalky minerality, white flowers and a discreet framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, precise and full-bodied, with a lovely core of fruit, superb mineral drive and grip, zesty acids and lovely focus and balance on the long, complex and vibrant finish. This is excellent Blanchot! (Drink between 2024 - 2055)

Decanter 93 points! "Shows more of an herbal, slightly edgy style (to be expected from the unusual exposition of Blanchot). Plenty of zesty acidity here and no shortage of concentration on the palate. A classy result in this warmer vintage. Will benefit from a couple of years in bottle. (Drink between 2025-2032)"
